People skills are the product of my business. OneByOne Team Achievement is a simple, effective way to get everyone involved in the success of a team, department, or company by learning how to get everyone to buy into getting along, helping each other achieve, and sincerely caring about the success of both their peers and their employer.
It is interesting that this article, as well as many about performance management, seldom is much mentioned about communication skills. Seldom have I read about businesses focusing on an effective communication system based on, as the article points out, understanding how to "walk in the shoes" of the fellow employees.
I would add this to the tips in the article.
Learn How To Communicate Up, Down, and Sideways
For me that training came in the J.C. Penney Company as I came out of college. In those days it was referred to as a "Golden Rule Company." With "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" as a foundation for interaction, it was fairly easy for me to make a point of caring about the opinions of my associates because I expected the same of them regarding my own thoughts.
Following "The Golden Rule" is a great mind-set.
